Barb Sahl
Instructor
Barb grew up knowing she was absolutely a cat person. Almost 40 years ago, she accidentally acquired a scruffy little dog when a family member couldn’t take care of him. Over time, Barb realized she’s actually really a dog person! Fourteen years ago she decided to get into dog sports and adopted a rescue Sheltie to do agility with. The new dog made it very clear early on that agility would not be his sport! Looking around for something else to do, the team found K9 Nose Work. Barb and Augie started their Nose Work journey in 2013 and both quickly became addicted to this new sport. Barb now competes with three dogs in every local venue of nose and scent work. Completely hooked on the sport, she entered the Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI) program in 2016 through the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW) and was certified as an instructor in 2017. She has been teaching nose work/scent work teams in Cheyenne since 2015 and has students who compete successfully in NACSW, AKC, and USCSS. Today Barb is owned by two smooth collies and the geriatric Sheltie who started it all.
