Intro to AKC Handler Discrimination (HD)

Service Description

Have you ever wanted to try AKC Handler Discrimination (HD) trials? This class is intended for teams that are brand new to HD or who might want to rebuild skills from the ground up. The focus is primarily on building the skills necessary for the Novice level (scented item hidden in closed containers). Class time will focus on how to build value for handler’s scent in the open and then transitioning to finding the handler’s sock in closed containers and teaching our dogs to discriminate the handler’s scent item from the another person’s scent item. If time allows, the class may also start to work on Advanced-level (interior) searches where the scented item is much smaller. This is a brand new class and is limited to four teams. Most supplies are provided. Weekly homework/practice is suggested for best progress through the class. Home sessions can be short and fun! This is a 6-week class occurring over 9 weeks to accommodate instructor travel. Please contact Barb with any questions.
