Why those who never stop learning stay ahead

Updated: Jan 17, 2021

You might ask yourself “Why bother continuing training my dog? He/she already knows the basics”. The reason to keep going is to keep your dog’s life enriched and yours as well.

Whether you have an older rescue, a new puppy, or a middle-aged ‘seasoned’ competition dog, it’s important to keep their mind engaged. Just like humans, dogs thrive on learning new things.

Read on to learn five reasons for continuing your training with your furry partner.

  1. New activities are just plain fun. Think about it…when you are doing something new, you lose track of time by being fully engaged. Your dog feels the same way!

  2. Learning something different together builds a stronger bond between you and your dog.

  3. Accomplishment grows confidence. Not only will accomplishing a new trick or skill give your dog confidence, you will also gain more confidence in your training ability as well.

  4. It keeps the brain cells regenerating. Challenging the brain with unique experiences is nourishment for the cells.

  5. Experiencing a new task together will get you both off the couch. We all know that moving our bodies is good for us and most of our dogs love to move. Everything Dog has lots of different training sessions to appeal to your curiosity of what to learn next. Keep learning new ways to engage your dog. You will be surprised at how your dog responds. Because…it’s just plain fun!
